Emotions offer important information and blueprints for behavior which help us do one thing:

Survive.

If you reviewed our resource on stress, you might be aware that we don't identify stress as good or bad.

Similarly, we don't identify emotions - whether painful or pleasurable - as "good" or "bad" either.

When painful emotions or sensations arise within me, I try to remind myself of this:

All things - whether "good" or "bad" - are happening for me and not to me.

Precision Nutrition calls this emotional resilience.

I call it ownership.

You may find that completing the worksheets on this page to be some of the more difficult challenges you face today.

Be patient. Go at your own pace. Give yourself grace.

Having a deeper understanding of your emotional resilience will empower you to take ownership over the stressors you may be facing in the gym, in the workspace, or at home.

I hope that when you find this ownership you will receive clarity on some of the action steps you can start taking right now that will help you remain consistent on your journey.
